Meet Nawal

Movement𓂀 Mindset 𓂀Embodiment

Nawal El Tememi is an Egyptian-Canadian movement artist, performer, and teacher whose work bridges Bellydance lineage, ritual performance, archetypal embodiment, yoga, whirling practices, and contemporary esoteric movement arts.

Her journey into dance began through the world of Tribal Fusion Bellydance, eventually leading her to intensive study within the Salimpour School under Suhaila Salimpour from 2011–2019. Alongside her technical studies, she immersed herself in the improvisational language and aesthetic culture of FatChanceBellyDance and the wider San Francisco Bay Area Bellydance community.

From 2016–2020, Nawal toured internationally with the mantra doom band Zaum, becoming one of the first Bellydance artists performing within the professional European metal and underground music scenes, becoming recognized in the Encyclopaedia of Metal. During this period, she developed a signature performance approach blending Tribal Fusion Bellydance, ceremonial atmosphere, sword work, dark feminine archetypes, and immersive theatrical presence.

This evolution later expanded into workshops and performance experiences taught throughout North America and Europe, exploring character embodiment, trance states, ritual movement, glamour alchemy, and what she playfully refers to as “evil queen realness” — an exploration of magnetism, sovereignty, mythic feminine presence, and transformational performance art.

Her work has also been featured within Europe’s alternative arts and esoteric communities, including teaching for Occulture Conference in Berlin 2025.

After relocating to Egypt in 2021, Nawal’s relationship with movement deepened further through immersion in culture, spirituality, and personal transformation.

While stepping away from public Bellydance performance for several years, she continued studying ballet, Afro dance, yoga, somatic movement, and meditative practices while developing her own transcendental whirling method and working on dance for her personal

Teaching yoga since 2009, Nawal is also a 500-hour registered yoga teacher and director of her own yoga school, offering foundational 200-hour yoga teacher certifications registered with Yoga Alliance.

Today, her work bridges Bellydance foundations, archetypal exploration, whirling practices, yoga, ceremonial movement, and Egyptian cultural immersion. Through retreats, workshops, performances, and transformational spaces, she creates experiences that invite participants into deeper presence, expression, sensuality, symbolism, and movement as living art. Her teaching integrates movement intelligence, nervous system awareness, ritual aesthetics, embodiment practices, and transformational facilitation.

Nawal has taught and performed internationally throughout Egypt, Dubai, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Canada, and the United States.
